Master of Music
The University of South Alabama's Master of Music graduate program is approved by
the National Association of Schools of Music, the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools and the Alabama Commission on Higher Education. Students in the program
can choose from concentrations in music education (alternative master's or traditional
master's), performance (piano, voice, woodwinds, brass or percussion), or collaborative
keyboard. The traditional master's of music with a music education concentration
is offered in the "Hybrid-Flex" format (the degree can be completed either online
or in-person).
Academic Requirements
- Undergraduate Degree in Music
- A minimum GPA of at least a 3.0 on all undergraduate work. In exceptional cases, applicants may be considered with at least a 2.5 GPA on all undergraduate work, or at least a 2.75 GPA on the last 60 hours of undergraduate work.
- International applicants: TOEFL score (minimum 71)
Departmental Admission Requirements
Leads to Alabama Class A Professional Music Education (P-12) Certification, Instrumental or Choral. This degree program is delivered in the "Hybrid-Flex" format and can be completed either online or in-person.

- Teaching Certificate
- Video of teaching: 10 – 25 minutes. Acceptability determined by music education faculty
